Asher Fulero Band

After 15 busy years as an in-demand freelance/sideman/session player and experimental composer, US keyboardist Asher Fulero was working on the difficult transition into being a ‘frontman’, nursing a vision of a live project that could combine the powers of his wide-ranging musical loves. After a few attempts at collaborative projects, he took the plunge and created the Asher Fulero Band in 2013, initially as a power trio. Since then the band has built into a powerful musical machine; a 5-piece driving force that provides the absolute real-deal high-end show. Based in Portland Oregon USA, AFB brings an original energy to the improvisational intersection of psychedelic rock, electric funk, jazz, live-tronica, and composer music. Fulero has developed a fun musical atmosphere and a ‘conductor’-like style where he signals arrangement changes and improvisational directions on the fly during the show, keeping the audience (and band) guessing where the music might go. Classic-sounding original songs are extended, bleeding into funked-up covers while improvised sections show off Fulero’s prodigious bag of unique keyboard techniques developed over 20 years of work onstage and in the studio. Backed by a powerhouse lineup of heavy-hitters (and occasional cameos from his lifetime of rockstar friends), the band never fails to deliver a peak experience for the musical explorer, a memorable song for the lover of craft, and a solidly danceable good time for the casual reveler.
