Dysfunction
Metal / Metal
Dysfunction is a heavy metal band from Utah. Formed in 2015 with J.R. Curtis and Flip Twogood writing songs in their parents basements. The first drummer in the group was Spencer Moore who gigged with the band for over a year and recorded their first demo with them in Curtis’ basement.
Gigs were sporadic and spread out for two years at the end of which Moore departed the band. After retooling some of the songs from the original demo, Twogood and Curtis recruited Brendon Gottfredson on drums and Anson Clark on bass. They recorded and released their debut album; The New Plague in early 2017, followed by a subsequent tour in the fall.
Despite opening for notable bands and playing well known venues, the tour yielded mostly disappointment for the group. The band began to drift apart and start different projects.
After lying dormant for nearly 3 years, the only remaining member J.R. Curtis returned to the project. Rather than releasing music under a different name, he realized that Dysfunction should always remain what it was meant to be. Misfits, no matter how many or few, writing and playing music.
What does the future hold for Dysfunction? We will have to wait and see.
