Karma Sheen

Karma Sheen, a London-based band, blends Hindustani Classical music, 60s-inspired rock, and Sufi lyricism to create a sound that bridges cultural tradition and modern innovation. Led by Sameer Khan, trained within the 600-year-old Shaam Chaurasi Gharana lineage, the group fuses South Asian classical elements with psychedelic rock, producing music that feels both timeless and forward-thinking. The band features multi-instrumentalist Rod Bourganos (sitar/synth), visual artist Grisha Grebennikov (bass/visuals), Amad Chima (guitar), and DJ/Producer Arun Dhanjal (drums). Their unique sound blends classical ragas, electrified folk instruments, analogue synths, and theremin, drawing inspiration from Sufi poetry, spiritual themes, and the improvisational depth of bandishes and Alaps. Karma Sheen released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in October 2023. Known for electrifying live performances, they’ve sold out venues like London’s 100 Club, Bristol’s The Canteen, and Brighton’s Green Door Store. They’ve graced festivals like Shambala and Boomtown, supporting acts such as Marcos Valle, Yin-Yin, and Nabihah Iqbal. Featured on BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson and Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone, and supported by grants from the PRS Foundation, Karma Sheen continues captivating audiences, blending tradition with contemporary innovation.
