Narasimha

Narasimha is an Indian-American producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, California. The name “Narasimha” is Sanskrit for “Lion-Man”, referring to the fourth avatar of Vishnu, who came to Earth as a lion-headed man to slay a powerful demon who could not be defeated by man or beast. Narasimha: neither man, nor beast, but somewhere in between. Driven by a passion for rhythm, Narasimha draws influence from the rich musical heritages of West Africa and Latin America to create vibrant, groove-focused house music. His sound links tribal rhythms and funk-inspired basslines to a modern production sensibility, yielding music that pulls you out of your mind and grounds you in your body. His music and performance are physical; his shows include him literally leaping off the decks and into the crowd to join them in dance. With a sound and energy that is both modern and ancient, one that feels both familiar and fresh, Narasimha invites you to explore the space in between. With his first release “Baako” on Hugel’s label Make The Girls Dance Records, and support from some of the most iconic DJs in the space — Hugel, Francis Mercier, MoBlack, Andruss, Wuki, and more — Narasimha ascent has begun.
