Dublin-based band Soda Blonde return with their haunting new single, “The Queen of Mercy.” Following the high-energy urgency of People Pleaser and their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Dream Big (2023), the band continues to push their sound into bold, cinematic territory. The Queen of Mercy is a dark, groove-laden track, blending hypnotic piano, brooding bass, and a driving rhythm section with a haunting refrain that lingers long after the song ends. Thematically, it wrestles with desire, regret, and the weight of past and present choices, delivered with the band’s signature evocative lyricism. Soda Blonde—comprised of Faye O’Rourke (vocals), Adam O’Regan (guitar), Dylan Lynch (drums), and Donagh Seaver-O’Leary (bass)—have had a landmark year. Their orchestral performance with the Irish National Symphony Orchestra at Dublin’s National Concert Hall and a sold-out European tour cemented their reputation as one of Ireland’s most dynamic live acts. Fresh from their SXSW debut, the band is gearing up for a UK/EU headline tour this April/May. The Queen of Mercy marks the next step in an ambitious series of releases set for 2025.
