Status Abnormis

Status Abnormis are a soul crushing mixture of several extreme metal genres influenced by horror, cosmic and industrial themes and often considered as the "Strapping Young Lad of Finland". Status Abnormis recently released "Huntress" (2018), the fourth record of this Jyväskylä based avant garde metal act. Released in 8th of May 2018, the EP is a sonic monolith packed with four devastating tracks introducing a scent of black metal, slower pummeling and rabid, grinding seizures. This EP introduces not only a fresh sound of mid-tempo creeping, but also Tomi as a new member on the bass and backing vocals, while Joel departs to focus on other musical projects. Status Abnormis (vocalist/guitarist Nikke, drummer Antti, guitarist/b-vocalist Jere, bassist/b-vocalist Tomi) are produced and mixed in their own rehearsal studio by themselves, and they release all records in a strong DIY-spirit. After forming the full lineup in Ylivieska, they recorded Nikke's solo project songs and released them as "Damage Control" EP (2012) which gained praise from the Finnish music media. Only an year after they wrote, recorded and released their acclaimed first full length "Call of the Void" (2013), from which a clear evolution in sound is heard: they step further from industrial metal, into a more chaotic mixture of death, grind and thrash metal. This movement towards a darker, more sinister sound spiralled and eventually transmutated into "Amor Fati" (2015).
